Gary Sherman Presents at the National Wrestling Coaches Association Annual Convention

Did you know that attorney Gary Sherman was a high school wrestling coach before he became a lawyer? Gary has put his combined experience to good use. Due to his unique background, the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) asked Gary to be a presenter at its annual Conference this year where Gary discussed the law of negligence as it relates to how coaches can and should minimize avoidable risks to their athletes while simultaneously insulating themselves from personal liability. This group’s practice is focused on litigation and compliance under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (the “ADA”). Over the past 20+ years, there has been an explosion in the number of ADA Title III lawsuits being filed, particularly in Florida. Such ADA lawsuits often allege the existence of “physical barriers,” such as inaccessible restrooms or parking lots. Over the past few years the scope of ADA lawsuits has expanded to allegations that a business’ website is inaccessible to visually-impaired individuals or is otherwise non-compliant.
