Julia Wyda Speaks at Family Law Conference

On June 11, 2013, Julia Wyda spoke at the Foxmoor First Annual Florida Family Law Conference: Handling a Divorce Case from Start to Finish. Ms. Wyda spoke on appellate practice, including types of appellate proceedings, general practice and procedure, and preservation of issues for appellate review and establishing a proper record.

Julia Wyda recently spoke at The Florida Bar's Practicing with Professionalism seminar for newly admitted lawyers. She was part of a panel discussion on ethics and professionalism with Scott Hawkins, Immediate Past President of the Florida Bar, and Keith Rizzardi, Law Professor of Ethics/Professionalism at St. Thomas Law School. Several Firm Attorneys Recognized for Excellence

Several of the firm's attorneys were recently recognized for their skill and proficiency. In the 2013 edition of the South Florida Legal Guide, partners Jeffrey P. Wasserman and Daniel R. Levine were awarded "Top Lawyer" status and partner Adam S. Chotiner was named a "Top Up and Comer," each in their respective fields of practice.

In the 2013 edition of Florida Super Lawyers, partners Jeffrey P. Wasserman and Seth A. Marmor and of counsel Brenda M. Abrams were acknowledged as "Super Lawyers" in their respective fields, and family law associate Julia Wyda was named a "Rising Star."  

Each of these attorneys has previously been recognized by these publications, and the firm congratulates them for again being acknowledged as leaders in their respective fields.

Michael B. Shapiro Sees Increased Activity in Commercial Real Estate

Michael B. Shapiro, the firm's managing partner and senior real estate attorney, has recently represented various clients in several commercial real estate transactions, including (i) the refinancing of two shopping centers in Broward County and an office plaza in Palm Beach County; (ii) the purchase of an office condominium in Ft. Lauderdale; (iii) the purchase of vacant land for the development of a Cheddars restaurant in West Melbourne; and (iv) the consummation of a long-term retail lease with O'Reilly's Automotive in Orlando. He is currently working on the refinancing of a shopping center in Union Park involving the defeasance of an existing conduit loan, as well as the sale of a medical condominium in Delray Beach. Michael B. Shapiro Handles Several Multi-Million Dollar Real Estate Transactions

Senior real estate and managing partner Michael B. Shapiro has recently consummated several multi-million dollar real estate transactions including representation of (i) the Buyer of a $3.8 million shopping center in Winter Garden; (ii) the Seller of a $3.2 million residential condominium in Palm Beach (iii) the Owner/Borrower in a $10 million refinancing of a shopping center in Sunrise; (iv) the Owner/Landlord in the successful negotiation of long term commercial leases with Aldi’s and Ross Dress For Less for a shopping center in Union Park; (v) the Owner/Landlord in the successful negotiation of commercial leases with Mattress Firm, Weight Watchers and First Watch for a shopping plaza in Ocala; and (vi) the Tenant in the successful negotiation of a long term dental office lease in Plantation. To learn more about Mr. Shapiro, click here.

Seth A.
